After School
Program
GAK's After School Program offers your child the practice and skills they need to reach their goals in and out of both the kitchen and the classroom. We combine our academic approach with kind and loving care to give working parents peace of mind. Students enjoy a safe space to learn and have fun while their parents are still at work.

Homework Help
Homework/Tutoring Homework assistance is the first part of our program. Counselors train in all subjects and current curriculum across all of the grades that we serve. Many of our staff members are teachers themselves having been fingerprinted with the state and working in DOE schools.
3
Culinary Instruction and Education
An essential part of our after school program is the hands on culinary experience kids will get. Each day, they'll make their own after school snack and immerse themselves in the energy of the food cycle through interactive cooking, gardening (when weather permits in our outdoor space), and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities lead by our formally trained chef and licensed teacher and hands-on food experimentation. All programs are age-appropriate and custom-designed for specific age groups/grades.
4
Culture with US
Not only do our skilled instructors create an immersive, hands-on cooking program , but kids will get to explore various cultures and foods during the culinary lesson and kitchen science experiments. Our curriculum explores history, community, science, math, language skills (yes, we practice learning new languages!) and more while using cooking as our focal point!
Daily Routine
-
All children are picked up at their schools dismissal times and brought back to our building. We do walk.
-
Kids head into the kitchen to make their after-school snack and have a chance to socialize.
-
Counselors promptly begin homework after snack is completed and work with your child until all his/her assignments are complete.
-
Activities begin around 4:45pm and are only open for children whose homework has been completed and checked. Children that have not yet finished his/her homework will have the opportunity to join the activities at a later time.
-
The kids head back into the kitchen for a culinary adventure! Each day we will focus on a new learning block with cooking as the focus. Make It Monday is our cooking challenge day where kids will get to taste something new and come up with creative ways to include it in a recipe. Tech Tuesday is our STEAM focused cooking day full of experiments. Cooking the World Wednesdays explores various cultures, cuisines and customs from around the world. Thursday Bake Off is dedicated to baking and decorating techniques and Foreign language Fridays are a chance for kids to learn not only the culinary staples but the language for the country/region we are celebrating that day.
